Sheelasha and Hitman make a powerful and formidable couple in Nepali arts circle.-Dr. Bibhakar Shakya

An Evening with Lamjung Welfare Society Qatar. January 19, 2017

A good son of Lamjung, Artist Mr. Hitman Gurung, and his wife, Ms. Sheelasha Rajbhandari, equally worthy Artist and a brand new daughter-in-law of Lumjung, are currently visiting Doha to participate in Qatar-Nepal Visual Arts collaboration organized by two Qatar Foundation Universities-- Virginia Commonwealth University and University College London in coordination with NRNA-NCC.  In their honor, Lamjung Welfare Society Qatar hosted a wonderful evening to meet and greet with the members of the Society.  The evening was a memorable one, and it was truly impressive to learn many members of Lumjung society are holding a managerial and senior staff positions in reputed companies in Qatar. Also, very happy to witness all the members of Lamjung Welfare Society being so proud of both Mr. Hitman Gurung and Ms. Sheelasha Rajbhandari.
    
Hitman Gurung has been successful to put Lumjung on the map for most Nepali, and more importantly, he put Nepal on the map for the rest of the world.  He is the recipient of many prestigious art awards and his paintings have been displayed in many museums around the world that include Australia and Singapore.

Sheelasha Rajbhandari is also a successful visual artist, currently based in Kathmandu. She has been active in multiple projects such as Artist in the City and participated in many international exhibitions including Bangladesh and Denmark. She is also a recipient of many prestigious art awards. Collaborating with her husband, she has worked as an arts educator and art director in numerous Nepali and international movies. She and Hitman are co -founders of Artree Nepal – Center for Contemporary Arts.
